An Update on Peanut:
We're so grateful for all of the support you've shown tiny Peanut. We're happy to report that after weeks of specialized care, Peanut is recovering well and is now available for adoption!
This resilient pup arrived at Pasadena Humane after an unknown traumatic injury that left him without most of his nose and the soft tissue on his upper muzzle. His jaw was dislocated, and he was in desperate need of help. Despite all he'd been through, Peanut's playful personality continued to shine, capturing the hearts of everyone he met.
While Peanut’s nose will not regrow, it has been slowly healing over the past several weeks. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to keep Peanut's nostril open, though he has adapted well to breathing through his mouth.

When tiny Peanut arrived at Pasadena Humane, our team was heartbroken. This little puppy had suffered an unknown traumatic injury that left him without most of his nose and the soft tissue on his upper muzzle. His jaw was dislocated, and he was in desperate need of immediate, specialized care. Despite everything, Peanut wagged his tail, trusting that we would help him.
Our veterinary team sprang into action. Because there isn’t enough skin to close the wound, Peanut’s nose must slowly heal from the inside out over the next several weeks. To help him breathe, we carefully placed a stent to keep his nostrils open as the tissue heals, giving him the best chance at a normal life. He’s being closely monitored every day, and may still need additional procedures if his airway begins to close. In the meantime, even eating requires special care, with soft meals served on a flat plate so he can safely get the nutrients he needs to grow strong.
